Questions Parents Often Ask

New to Scouting? Here are answers to a few common questions.

Does my son need camping experience?

Not at all!  Many Scouts join with little or no outdoor experience.  We teach skills gradually and older Scouts help younger Scouts learn using the Patrol Method.

Absolutely.  Visiting a meeting is the best way to see if Troop 1966 is a good fit.  No uniform or experience required!

Many Scouts balance sports, band, school activities, and family schedules.  Participation is flexible and Scouting works best when it fits your family.

We’re happy to explain troop dues, camping costs, uniforms, and fundraising opportunities.  We work hard to keep Scouting accessible for families and will not allow cost to be a barrier for boys.

Troop 1966 welcomes boys ages 11–17, typically after completing fifth grade or earning the Arrow of Light rank in Cub Scouts.

The best way to see if Troop 1966 is a good fit is to visit a meeting!
